In a heartwarming partnership, Poort FM and Vumatel have embarked on a mission to provide sanitary pads and essential life lessons to the learners of Eersterust. Nantes Primary School was the primary focus of this compassion-driven initiative.
The event, known as the “Sanitary Drive,” unfolded on October 11, 2023, at Nantes Primary School from 09:30 to 10:00. It was a collective effort attended by students and dedicated social workers from the health sector. This event carried particular significance as it coincided with the International Day for a Girl Child.
Under the central theme of “Health Care Awareness Talk,” the event centered on the overall well-being of the young learners. The presence of experienced social workers added depth and impact as they took the opportunity to educate students on a range of crucial topics. These informative sessions covered subjects such as substance abuse awareness, encouraging learners to steer clear of harmful substances.
The discussions also extended to addressing issues like teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and Gender-Based Violence. The resounding message was clear: if students encounter such challenging situations, they should not hesitate to contact social workers or school authorities for guidance and support.
As the event concluded, the Poort FM’s I-Care foundation, known as Poort FM CARES, and Vumatel extended a helping hand by providing much-needed sanitary pads to the students.
